Long Road Ecological Farm Serving the Kingston region

Long Road Ecological Farm is located in Murvale, Ontario, on Highway 38 North of Kingston, on a fertile rolling field with a long, long laneway. Long Road grows seasonal produce throughout the summer and offers Farm Sum year round.  Farm Sum is Chinese peasant food made from ingredients from the farm, including organically produced pork and vegetables. We are an easy drive from Kingston and just under 10 minutes from the 401.

We run our farm stand by Highway 38 throughout the summer season. Watch out for the open sign when you drive by!

Long Road offers Summer veggie CSA shares. Each share includes seasonal greens, strawberry and Farm Sum food. Free range organically-fed eggs are optional. We start to accept members in Feburary for the Summer CSA. CSA box starts mid-May and run till October (19 weeks). Our Fall/Winter Farm Sum CSA runs from mid-October till next March.

We also offer cooking classes throughout the year.  If you would like to learn how to make steamed buns, dumplings, or how to cook vegetables in a delicious and simple Chinese peasant style, here is your chance.  Classes include hands-on instruction, snacks, and some food to take home with you at the end.  We offer classes on farm and offsite.  Please contact us for more information.

What does “Ecological” mean? We use the term because we are not yet certified organic. Here is a list of our practices:

• We only use certified organic/open pollinated and heritage seeds;
• We do not fertilize with chemical fertilizer;
• We do not spray our produce with chemicals of any kind;
• We only use compost and manure produced in our own farm;
• We practice crop rotation and ensure that our soil is adequately nourished;
• We only feed our animals with certified organic feed; and
• We only use certified organic wheat and spelt flour for our farm sum food
